Hi there! I'm Kristin Parsons!
My great grandfather got me hooked on gardening when I was still in diapers. I have been blessed to grow up in a family that raised me to appreciate and understand where food comes from, and so I guess you could say some of this is just “in my blood.” When I went to College, I saw the Landscape Architecture program but it didn’t interest me because there was no focus on fruit trees and gardens: it all seemed ornamental. Thus, I chose the built environment path. When I bought my first house in Arizona in 2009 the first thing I did was plant fruit trees and a garden! I quickly learned that growing food in Arizona is a different experience from other places in the US. So I started educating myself and growing my knowledge.
This zen time in my yard was a much appreciated relief compared to my long hours at the computer in my chosen career. As with all things that are loved: I talked a lot about growing food! Soon others were asking me to help design and layout their spaces outside my day job. Utilizing my design skills to help others feel confident growing food and planning their outdoor space was something I loved so much!
